Introduction
Choosing Marine Biology as my field of study is the result of a long-standing passion that combines my academic interests with my recreational experiences. My fascination with the underwater world, complemented by a solid foundation in Biology and Geology, drives me to pursue an advanced degree in Marine Science at XXXX University.

My choice of marine biology stems from a combination of interests, both academic and recreational. Biology has been one of my favourite subjects at school now for some years and studying geology has expanded my interest further, showing links between how life on earth began and how it evolved over time. Studying Geology has helped me to understand the functions of oceans and organisms. Whilst on holiday abroad I have been scuba diving on numerous occasions and have completed the first three modules of my open water certificate. I find the underwater world to be extremely fascinating.
By combining my interests in Biology and Geology with my love of scuba diving, I know i have found, in Marine Science, the subject that I want to study at a higher level
To further my education, I plan to take advantage of a volunteer-based scheme called XXXX next summer, which will involve three weeks in the Bay Islands of Honduras collecting research data on the organisms that lie on and around the reefs. While in Honduras I will gain my advanced open water certificate, learn all about the corals and the fish that live there, a taste of what conservation work is all about.
My responsibilities as company secretary and IT deputy for our young enterprise company, XXXX, have taught me the importance of good orgnisation and efficient record keeping ensuring the company runs effectively and smoothly. Having to fill in forms such as memorandums and articles of association also taught me the importance of teamwork. At school I had several responsibilities including canteen duty and stair duty which involved organising the younger members of the school to help the canteen staff and avoid accidents on the stairs.
Outside school I enjoy trampolining and currently compete with the City of Sheffield squad. I have also competed for the school team. taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh competition which brought me great satisfaction.
I have completed bronze and silver and am currently working towards the gold. I also undertook the trident scheme which involves a work experience placement, a personal challenge, and community involvement
At one primary school, I spent two weeks working with aY1 class and a Y2 class, helping with reading, writing, and math. I was also responsible for a group of three children on a school trip to Cusworth Hall. I enjoyed working with both the staff and children as it increased my interpersonal skills and helped me to gain confidence. I have also worked in a pharmacy where I helped fill prescriptions and attend to clients. I especially enjoy working with people.
Thank you for considering my application to your distinguished MSC Program in Marine Science at XXXX University.
