The greatest contribution that I might be able to make to society would be to help promote an understanding between cultures that will enable us to defeat terrorism over the long term. My professional life thus far in the defense of America has been extremely rewarding; and I am proud to be a military man dedicated to the peaceful resolution of conflicts. I have served as an Officer in the U.S. Army the last six years and my service has taken me to three different continents; it has been a great honor and privilege to serve with many of our nation’s most intelligent, selfless, hardworking, and patriotic people.
I began my career as a Communications Officer learning how to plan and develop strategic and tactical communications. Thus, I have developed a keen awareness of the nature of the most sophisticated communications systems, the trends according to which those systems are developing, and the general impact that this has on our lives. More recently, serving as a Special Operations Officer has provided me with the opportunity for leadership development. I have been exposed to various cultures, ideas, beliefs, lifestyles, and languages. My responsibilities include advising commanders and ambassadors on various information campaigns and foreign policy objectives, analyzing propaganda, and developing public information campaigns.
My areas of greatest interest and strength are International Relations/Politics, Diplomacy, Religion, History, and Geography. Now, I am consulting/advising for the Jordanian Special Operations Command. Through my participation in the rigorous special operations training course at the John F. Kennedy School and Center for Warfare, I learned the art of target audience analysis, message development, dissemination, etc., over various communications platforms.
In my current capacity, I develop programs that alter the behavior of foreign populations in a manner consistent with United States diplomatic, national security, and foreign policy objectives. I now find myself thrust into a critically critical position at the vanguard of the counter terrorism fight. My specific role, while classified, is to develop communications strategies to help defeat ideologies that corrupt the minds of people that have no access to accurate political information, thus making them vulnerable to radical ideologies that result in unthinkable acts of violence. I genuinely believe that the most powerful tool for ridding the world of terrorist ideology is a truthful information campaign that paints an accurate picture of events and circumstances. Thus, it is imperative that I learn state-of-the-art skills in communications.
I was recently awarded a scholarship from the Army to attend graduate school. The Communications Program at XXXU is my first choice due to its emphasis on public information strategies. This will help to prepare me for a long and productive career in the development of effective public information campaigns in support of our diplomatic missions around the world. In the future, I look forward to being of service to US embassy country teams and even foreign militaries, as well as the Department of Defense. I am convinced that XXXU is the best platform on which to build my future and I want to assure you that I will give my all to your program.
Thank you for considering my application.
