I want a future that is more cerebral, fewer people and more books, less social clutter, and more appreciation of interior reflection. I want to write. I have spent most of my leisure time since adolescence reading. My library contains scores of biographies of leaders, politicians, and businesspeople, interlaced with works on history and the literature in Political Science. Although I have never studied Political Science or International Relations in a formal academic setting, I have educated myself in the literature of political affairs for decades and I recently made the decision to retire to pursue the M.A. Degree in Political Science at XXXX University/GSAS. I see your MA Program as an opportunity to prove myself worthy of going on and earning the PHD at XXXX.

My interests are focused on the challenges of democracy in the era of resurging religious undercurrents as well as the manipulation of faith as a political tool that fuels conflicts.  I look forward to an in-depth study of the fragile separation that has existed between church & state in forms of governance long prevalent in Europe, the Middle East and Asia as well as the manipulation of religious and atheistic identities by political figures of the 18th – 21st centuries. I seek a full immersion in the study of possible win-win solutions for the sustainability of the earth and humankind – the way that this is both facilitated and constrained by the nature of democracy.

I have assimilated into diverse cultures and governance modalities as an owner and/or leader of organizations in six countries on three continents, serving as Executive Chair, President, and CEO of public corporations in the USA, Germany, UK, India, Canada, and Israel. I have acquired a proficiency in the positive transformation of international multi-cultural organizations, and I hope to put what I have learned to clever use at XXXX, also making excellent use of my analytical background in Mathematics, Computer Science, deep learning algorithms, and crowdsourcing techniques.

Throughout my career as a leader in the business world, I have been committed to transforming organizational cultures of multiple geo-local organizations into coherent, amalgamated, multi-national teams working in harmonious social environments. I have never lost sight of the importance of a critical examination of past events to inspire teams to collaborate in the shaping of the future trajectory of the organization. At XXXX University, I seek to expand my knowledge base and sharpen my capacity for multi-disciplinary thinking about transnational practices in the context of politics and history.

I am the best fit for graduate studies at XXXX University because of the thoroughly analytical nature of your coursework. I see your curriculum as the ideal instrument for the research that I wish to undertake concerning the political consequences of cyber-based societies, religion as a political tool in the Internet age, and the relationship between protecting the environment and sustainability on the one hand, and Internet development and access on the other.

Thank you for considering my application to Political Science at XXXX University.
