Now that I have extensive professional experience giving my all as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA), preparing me for excellence in graduate school in Occupational Therapy. By advancing my education in this area, I seek the knowledge, perspective, exposure, and experience that I need to become the most effective OT professional possible. I find increasing joy helping those in need and I hope very much to use Occupational Therapy as a vehicle to change people’s lives for the better, for many decades to come.
Your distinguished master's program in Occupational Therapy at XXXX College is my first choice for a variety of reasons, mostly the sheer excellence and thoroughgoing nature of your curriculum. I am convinced that completing your program will provide me with the innovative tools and resources that will inspire and enable me to achieve my long-term career goals in OT and make my greatest contribution.
I could not imagine finding greater satisfaction in my current professional positions in both an assisted living facility and a preschool setting. Providing treatment sessions for residents and children is the highlight of my day, helping to develop their ADL, fine-motor, visual-motor and other skills; along with balance, transfer, endurance and strengthening the upper body. I enjoy the challenge enormously.
I look forward to contributing to the diversity of your master's program in Occupational Therapy at XXXX College as an African American woman of Haitian descent who graduated on the Dean’ List from both XXXX Community College and XXXX College. Your program will prepare me to contribute something of excellent value to the land of my family origin, working as an OT professional in Haiti in years to come as well as America. I especially look forward to helping those victims who will spend a lifetime struggling to recover and to cope with the devastation of the earthquake that destroyed much of the country and took so many lives, six years ago. My mother is a registered nurse, and she has always instilled in me the importance of caring for the sick and those who are in need. For years now, I have been finding and cultivating my special passion for Occupational Therapy. My career as a COTA started three years ago in a preschool for children with special needs, and then later in an assisted living facility as well. Working in my present position as a COTA has helped me to find and pursue my true passion and to better appreciate the integral importance of Occupational Therapy in health care.
I thank you for your consideration.
